February 28th - March 11th, 2017
We will spend 10 nights in two different locations in Rishikesh - 6 nights at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, host to the International Yoga Festival, 4 nights at the beautiful Sattva Spa and Wellness Retreat - and 1 night in transit through New Delhi where we will gather for the start of our journey. At Parmarth Niketan, you will have the opportunity to participate in the International Yoga Festival and choose as many or as few yoga classes, workshops or lectures as you wish. Experience an authentic yoga ashram environment - simple, clean, and safe - where you rise to the sound of morning bells and chanting. You will have the option to go on excursions to sacred sites and temples. You will have a chance to sit in satsang with Advaita Vedanta master Sri Mooji. Each evening the Ashram residents host a public kirtan and aarti (light ceremony) on the river bank and we chant Hanuman Chalisa together. Plus, you will also have plenty of free time to yourself to leave space for spontaneity, make connections, or simply shop in the many markets there!
Greetings Beloved Friends,
In February 2017, I will be guiding a small group on a journey of a lifetime to Rishikesh, India - the birthplace of Yoga. I am so excited about this opportunity to once again visit this mystical country that birthed one of our most beautiful spiritual paths on the planet! I am inviting you to be a part of this special journey of Self-discovery, cultural immersion, and spiritual nourishment in the "Land of the Sages" at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains.
As a student and teacher of yoga for over 12 years, my first trip to India in 2014 was the fulfilment of a long held dream. I realised that India calls to us on a heart level, and sometimes we don't even know why, perhaps it reaches back to an ancient memory, but when the time is right to go - you do. Mother India calls you home. Rishikesh is a feast for the senses - your eyes behold an array of exquisite colours everywhere you look, you often hear the melodic sounds of chanting (devotional singing) in the distance, wandering sadhus (holy persons) offer you blessings in the form of rakhi, a red/gold string bracelet, pujas (fire ceremonies) performed on the edge of the River Ganges, and the kindness of strangers inviting you for a cup of chai (tea) in their shop to share a story and discover the similarities in our human experience. This trip is an opportunity for you to step out of your familiar routine, to stimulate every aspect of your being into a new awakening, to reconnect with the essence of life, to learn more about the roots of yoga within the Indian context and explore a variety of teachings, and to experience deep transformation so that you may return home feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and spiritually uplifted.
After our time at the ashram, it's time to drive just one hour to the Sattva Retreat where you will have the opportunity to rest, restore and explore local Himalayan villages, caves, waterfalls and mountain peaks. Sattva Retreat offers a fusion of contemporary Western amenities and traditional Indian village culture. It is located on a sacred pilgrimage route that the yogis used in ancient times on their journey to the higher Himalayas. All of Sattva Retreat’s cuisine is organic, vegetarian and farm-to-table food with fresh locally grown ingredients from the villages. Special care and attention has been paid to ensure that we have clean and hygienic food and water throughout the course of the entire trip. There will be daily led yoga and meditation classes and a variety of options for personal and group excursions.
I hope you will join us on this amazing trip of a lifetime! Is India calling to you? Now is the time.
